There is no right or wrong way, just preference. I usually tie in 1-1.5 times the length of the hook.

I posted this in the wrong place.
What I need to know is how long to make the marabou extend behind the jig hook.

This is a 1 minute jig build.

Maybe the best way I can answer that is what I do. I usually stop all my tail in near the same place and after it's tied I know it's gonna be 2 1/2" long total and couple be a little less than that at time, but not a lot. I am measuring from the front of the head to the tip of the tail. So I am going 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" past the hook in most cases.
Hope that helps,

Am I using too much marabou? I don't know how much to use. First time I have used it.
This stuff seems to be sensitive to my hand. The marabou stands up like I have an electric charge or something??

It gets a lot of static in it and all you need tondo is get some of the little sheets you wife puts in the clothes dryer after it's been good used. Then just take the feather and hole the little sheet over it while you pull it out and static will be gone!
With marabou it needs to be how many ch you want and also know the fish will tear pieces off as you catch them so as full as it starts out, soon it will be less. So it just needs to be enough that you like it! It's hard to tell you without knowing what size marabou you have also.
