when you guys go jig fishing, do you have several rods, say 3, ready to go with different color ready?
If yes, what colors do you have preset up?

    thanks

I do usually have between 4 and 6 rods rigged and will have different colors on each so all I have to do is grab the one I want next.

Lets cover spring for my little Roadrunners colors. Summer would be different and different size head and type probably.

Chart/Blue/Chart (See 3' down or less mainly, but still will work well after the water clears more.)
    Chart/Black/Chart
Silver/Chart/FL Blue (Chart can be either one and my fist love here was FL Yellow one)
    Silver/Blue/White (More clear water.)
Silver/Silver/FL Blue (Also more for clear water.)
Flame Red/Black and FL Yellow/Hot Orange (Note: FL Yellow with added to Black in chenille it looks like FL Chart. Also this color if for when my water is more stained or I actually find some in very shallow water on beds.)

There are others I will sometimes exchange, like one the Silver Heads I do like what I call Baitfish Chenille Or maybe even Rainbow.
I also have some other colors I want to try more, quite a few actually and especially the Royal Blue and my Junebug!

Note this year I added at least one color I like to carry too and it is getting in the mix pretty well. That would be Hot Pink/Estaz Chart/Chart

Now just a overall note: Summer at night I am going to always have several different ones...Black/Blue/Black, Brt. Green/Black and FL Yellow/Chart, Hot Pink/Chart/Chart and a few others I can not think of at this moment.

I have 6 to 8 rod's most of time. Really depends on the time of year what lake as to what colors I use. Pre.spawn it's easy green chart. Black chart. Under a float. Spawn I use all kinds of jigs depending on what lake I'm fishing. After the spawn I'm shooting docks mostly, for that it's 1/16oz or 1/32 marabou jigs and some soft plastics. I'm a jig junkie and I've found so many different jigs that work so well I have to have a lot of rod's at the ready.

I run 6 rods normally and double rig each rod with 1/32oz, 1/16oz jigs, or a combo of the two depending on time of year. I will rig up with Pink/Pink, Pink/Fl.Yellow, Acid Rain, Electric Chicken, and a dark pattern Blue/Black-Chartreuse/Black- Chart/Orange/Black. I use glow in the dark heads and both hair and grub body jigs. Long Line. Acid rain is my go to color.

This may sound rather stupid but are we talking trolling or holding a rod in hand. As I will have several rods ready but laying on the deck.

I am long line trolling in Spring and one rod in hand and then in summer it's usually tight lining and one rod in hand. All others laying next to me.

Most true, one pole, vertical jig fishermen will have at least two, and possibly three rods at their disposal. In most cases, I would say it's not for color selection, it's for jig weight. I keep one rod tied with a 1/32 on it, and the other with a 1/16th. The weight of the jig I use will depend on the depth of the water I'm fishing, or more importantly the depth of the fish I am targeting. If your fishing heavy structure the possibility of breaking a rod always exist. For this reason the third rod is an extra in case I break one. This has happened more times then I care to mention. A change in jig color takes no more than 15 to 20 seconds. I let the fish tell me what they prefer. Experience leads me to start with a color I have confidence in. If I start getting short strikes, I know that's not the color the fish are wanting and a change is in order. If your fishing with a buddy, both should start with different colors to quicken the process of narrowing down the fishes desires.

A natural shad looking imitation, black/chartreuse, pink/white and maybe orange/brown.
