just read up on the crappie candy fly. I understand it just fine other than how it will float hook up.
It has bead eyes that hang below but it has buck tail on the bottom side. I thought buck tail was hollow and would float the fly up in whatever side it was on.

Skip, got me interested in this fly. I've posted pictures of the ones I've made. You'll need some Fluorescent yarn. They are fun to Ty. If you scroll down to Skips post, you'll see he has some nice examples.

Theres not that much bucktail to make a diff. you can always use lead eyes if your concerned about it ..

You for sure need some of the FL Nylon Wool Danville makes! It's very nice stuff, but also know it comes on like 10 yard spools I am pretty sure!
I have been tying that fly for a good many years now and that FL Nylon Wool comes in something like 10 colors??

Deer body hair is hollow and floats. Bucktail may be hollow but I don't think so and has never been an issue with any of my ties. I use some flash on mine that I copied off of youtube and it is spread up from the shank and creates a fan like appearance that helps it stay upright.
