Hey guys, been awhile since I've posted anything. I've lost two grandparents in the past seven months so things have been rough lately. Tying has been a nice escape at times. I've still been checking the site as much as I can and it looks like everyone is still doing exceptional work, very impressive. So....I have a problem with my ties and need some help.

I started tying bigger bodies on my jigs, triple wrapping the chenille. Starting at the tail end, wrap to the head then back to the tail then to the head. I love the look but have a problem. Got out to catch some fish Sunday and had two jigs where the back of the wrap slipped off. It didn't unravel, just slipped back down the hook shank. So this is a long winded way of looking for a fix. Can I just not wrap it that many times? Is there a way to lock down the back end? Could I use a bigger newage chenille to get the bigger body? Any advice would be appreciated.

The best fix is buy larger chenille. I have never tripple wrapped any jig yet, but I do mine different anyway. I start at the head and pull chenille back away and wrap thread to where I want it to end, then wrap back ot head and if I double wrap I do the same thing again. Not sure that helps with tripple wrap, but larger chenille would! I mean they make it to a pretty big size.I am pretty sure back when I started and bought chenille on the cards I bought some as large as #5 from places like Barlow's I think???Skip

I have not triple wrapped either but I would think if you start the chenille wrap from rear of hook and go to head and then wrap with thread once or twice and then wrap chenille back to hook and once there simply stretch your thread to the rear and wrap the thread there once or twice then wrap the thread just once or twice while moving back to the head and then finally wrap chenille back to head and then close with thread and whip finisher. Maybe that will hold.

I have used electrical tape around the hook shank to increase girth and then just tie as normal. Just my brand of engineering. The only downside that I've found is that your tail doesn't flare as much.
