Hi guys I have a paint question, is transparent paint best with a base coat or is it necessary for all colors, new to p.p. Thanks Bruce.

Clear coating I use Rosey's 200%. I use a clear if I want to keep the shiny fresh pour look or I am tapping candy colors. I run two 3" TJ pucks and one is always set for clear coating. Dip color then dip clear. I dip like a bird taking a bath and shaking its feathers.

Bruce, what kind of transparent colors are you asking about?

I have a candy pink that I prefer on shiny lead, you can undercoat it with pink or white and it changes the color completely. Nothing is required, it's just whichever you like best.
This is the pink, for what it's worth.
