Kind of depends on what your definition of not too high of a price really is. You should get as good as your pocket can handle IMHO! Do you want a good Rotary or a fixed vise. You can get a really good fixed vise for uuder $100, but a good Rotary will cost more. The only decent Rotary under $100 is mostly plastic, but works pretty well. Used one for the first year I tied and then sold it and got a really good Rotary and one year later I bought my Nor, but nothing to do with the Renzetti. Had bought the year before, it was other reasons I flet the need for the Nor-Vise!

Like Skip says, there several good ones. All I will say is don't be in a hurry to buy until you get your hands on one. Many I have handled had everything that the others had but weren't near as smooth or comfortable for me to use. $100 to $200 and you'll be in a good vise that will last for life. I use a Renzetti Traveler but there are others as good or better. Also look at the available extra's for it, you never know which way this hobby will go and versatility is a big plus. Lots to choose from, good luck and Merry Christmas.

I bought this one when I started 2 years ago for $25. It's strong enough that if the little granddaughters want to help I don't have to worry about it breaking.
