Vice Question

I was wondering if anyone has had hands on this vice. It looks good for the money.
How would it compare to a peak?

Don't know a thing about it, but if it was me I would go with something proven as very good like a Peak which is not a lot more. Only thing is there are a few things you would buy separate if buying a Peak, like the materials trash catcher. So I guess if you want that too then it's a bit farther away from a Peak on cost. However the Peak is the best vise under $150 like shown in the Ohio Study. Pretty sure Peak is still the best vise for the money.

I dntknow about this vice but would not buy a vise without my own hands on. I tie thousands of flys and jigs a year and use a renzitti traveler. This vice will hold up for a lifetime of tying. If there is a fly shop in your area give them a chance to show you what they have. If not check out the 2 big (outdoor)box stores. They usually have many models and you can play with them to make a decision. Some have reccomended hook size use so check that out also.

I love my peak
I used cheap vises for a few years and got tired of jigs slipping and having to adjust them all the time with the peak I just clamp and go

I don't know nothing about the one you seen on eBay it may be a great vise

Read some reviews on it and the builder on the net couple of months ago. Supposed to be a good vise and a good guy to deal with.

I have to say that I agree with several of the posts. Having handled most of what's on the market I can say that just because it says it has this or does that doesn't mean it does it well or smooth, or that it will last. I also Have a Renzetti(Bombproof) and know of several that tie actively on Peak's and have never heard a bad word of either. If I was to spend the money, especially without handling it I would go with one with a LARGE track record. Parts and accessories available is something else to look into.

Not knowing the maker I'd be leary. For a few bucks more grab a Peak. If at all possible see if you have a fly fishing group in your area and if they have meetings where they tie, and see if they'll let you put your hands on it, if you aren't comfortable with it you won't enjoy your tying.

I learned Non-rotary, went from Herters model A copy to a Thompson Model A to a Dyna-King Kingfisher.

Didn't take long to want better.
I bought a peak rotary. Thanks for the feedback.
