Those look awesome Skip. I'm a huge roadrunner fan, fish them all year long. What is that blue? I really like that color and like the chenille on the last one a lot.

They all look great! I'm partial to that blue though, love it, and I'm always a sucker for black/yellow. Are all of them marabou?
They look awesome. I need some lessons from you, love the color combos and how well they are tied. I've tried one roadrunner so far and it was a pretty sad attempt. As you can see, I have some work to do but look forward to tying more of these as spring gets closer. Also took the picture before I got the tip about putting something white behind it so I apologize for that.![]()
Thank you! I will help anytime I can, just ask me with a PM or email. My first one didn't look at that great either, but that was 8 to 10 years ago.
Hey you can also use something like a all wood background for light color jigs. I use white mostly, but some colors do look better on wood, but it's all the background clutter that hurts a picture like this. It's because so many things are going on it hides the clear look. That one you tied looks like it was a painted head you got, is that right? When you get Roadrunner heads you didn't paint you probably want to put a clear coat over it to try and keep it from chipping. You can use Sally Henson's Hard as Nails on most colors, but of FL Yellow and Chart you need some Clear Vinyl so it doesn't mess up the color. Sally's will hurt FL Yellow and Chart.
Skip...Very nice RR's.....Do you have a favorite blade you like more than others?
Yeah especially early spring when the lake is still a little stained I like a brass willow, but when it clears and I change from Chart/Blue/Chart to say Silver/Silver/Blue I will then go to a silver and can be the imprinted blade they come with or a willow.
Great looking Roadrunners. I didn't know Roadrunner sold their jigs with a roller swivel, the ones I pour for my use I also use the roller swivels. They hold up very well and don't come apart like the cheap swivels tend to do.
