Actually the black squirrell is natural, its the black variation of a red fox squirell . There found here in the Ms Delta . Willsjwills dyed the purple ones for me, i gave him a bag of grey squirrell tales and he dyed a few for me. That purple squirrell with chartruse or orange is a killer on the Ms oxbow lakes.

Purple is a lot better on a lot of lakes than people think. I tie a jig for a guide friend that is Silver/Ginger/Purple and kills the crappie on several lakes including Toledo Bend when he fishes here once a year, LOL! I have some FL Green (same as Chart) with purple crystal that is really nice.

I like fresh road kill!! I use to keep a kit in the truck but got to woundering what the law would think of me with saws, bone cutters, gloves and bags decided I needed to remove it from the truck

where I used to live we had a zillion deer laying on the side the road dead the year around including coyotes skunks badgers rabbits Jack raccoons and what ever else got out on that highway to get run over the county road department does not pick up anything and let sit lay there for the flies to devour I don't know how many deer that I drug off the highway in front of our house in Eastern Oregon quite a few I would drag them out in the field and let the coyotes have added they were usually gone in about two weeks.

Bob, we have a lot of car/deer impacts also. With so many cars on the roads now you about have to see the kill to be able to get any useable furs from roadkill here but you can get some good useable tails in the winter while the hair is thick and the temps are low.

I have some red fox tail that does very well in the cooler months. The blood hadn't changed color when I collected it, but he sure wasn't using it any more. It was large. Nice jigs and good use of stuff everyone drives by.

Those are very interesting ties!
I am wondering, what is the body material in photo #1? It looks similar to some stuff I just bought called "Flashyback"..... in Peacock color.
It is beautiful material, iridescent colors, but I have no idea how to use it.

Flashback is used for tying flies like Scuds and have seen it used on some Nymphs. It is used on the back of the flies. I guess there are ways you could use it on jigs.
