    Default wire forming tool and bender?


    has anyone ever made there own wire forming tool for making spinner baits and stuff I know they make the Hagen's pro wire former and the little blue bender but has anyone ever made there own tool?

    Josh, it depends on what your trying to build. Netcraft and Barlowboth I think carry a small hand bender just a small round piece of aluminum with a attachment to bend the wire. I made a jig once out of 2 finishing nails in piece of oak to make R bends in spinner bait wire. I also took a old pair of needle nose pliers and ground about 1/2 in back from tip round by rotating on grinder to twist eyes in spinnerbait wire.

    Their are a lot of folks on Crappie .com that have forgetten more than we will ever know about lure making.We have tried a lot of wire benders and made some.I am a tight wad when it comes to spending my money. The Twisteck from Barlows are pricy but well worth the money in our book!!! this bender was sugested by a friend and well worth the money they even have a video. Just out two cents hope this helps!!

    I completely under stand on the tight wad part I try and make all of the stuff I can and since I work in a sheet metal shop I thought there has got to be some way of making a nice wire bender with all of these fancy machines that I get to use
