Pretty good for a first tie, you will be surpised how your consistency will improve as you continue. Takes practice to find your nick and what works for you. Main thing is will it catch fish! My first tie was so ugly to me, I have improved drastically but the fish didn't care. Here is that ugly first tie and my first time fishing with a jig that I made myself.

It's a good feeling when your first tie works, meat on the hook is the goal!

Look good but X2 on the tail but hey let the fish tell you. But definetly agree on the chennile being too far down - you don't want to cut down your hooking percentage with the chenille so far down.

Now go catch some fish!!!!!!!!!! and after the first one on your own tie!! stick it in your pocket and save it, it will always bring back the day!!!!!!

    Keep em coming!!

sometimes when you're tying jigs you make mistakes and probably they are the best to catch fish with . I try to enjoy myself when we are tying jigs so we do a lot of experimenting with different color combinations is you probably will never know what will ever work into you try it so relax and take it easy and enjoy the hobby try to remember this is for your enjoyment and things will go a lot smoother us guys here are here to help if you need us in boy there is a ton information on this board.

Shorten the tie to 1/8th to 1/4" wide and add some color to the tail. Shorten the tail to about 1/2 to 3/4" past the hook.
Tie some gnats too, jig hook without the lead.
My 4 best catchers have been hair gnats, Pink, Pink and Chart., Orange, Orange and Chart. With black nylon thread from the fabric store.

Size: 33.5 KBHopefully this one is a little better than the others. You really can't see the black marabou that is under the flash on the bottom side of the jig. Well any ways. I am having a ball playing with these things and looking at all of the photos of everyone else's jigs. Thanks for looking, Bobo

Make the tail length the way you like it because the crappie will eat them! Mine have always been a bit longer than most and my jigs catch a lot of fish for me and many customers I have had the prevailing to tie for.

The thing I am having the most problem with now is stacking enough marabou for the tail feathes. LOL I either have it way to short or I leave the stem in it. hehehehe I am having a ball trying new things in this new hobby, even though my hands hurt it is a good kind of hurt. I would rather do this than have to squeeze one of those balls for physical therapy. Skip, Thanks for taking the time to answer all of these post. That thank you goes out to all of the others that have also pm'd me or answered directly to this thread or the other. I may be adding some more pics to this thread as I tie more jigs if everyone thinks that would be cool. Thanks for all of the help folks, Bobo
