I like a # 10 Dry fly hook. I have maybe 300 or so that I bought back when they were real iron and forged. I tie maybe 3 every year and don't fish them that often. There is a gentleman that fishes Bream all the time with a fly rod. He likes to fish both #10's and 12's on a 2x long shank for his spiders. He does well here on the lake. I have fished with him a couple of times. He is a good fly fisherman just not my cup of tea. Do it every once in a while but am hooked on jig fishing even for bluegills.
I just tie on the foam body I never thread the body on a hook. A small drop of head cement and over coat of Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails seals it good. Skip's Home made head cement works about as good as any out there and is inexpensive after the first batch is made. I almost have a life time supply of it. Be sure and ask him about it.
