    Default Need to find Wings

I have everything t tie just about anything ow but for the life of me I can not find full Turkey wings for biots for a descent price. I don't care the quality, they are for feelers and tails but I want to have a variety of lengths and sizes. Wild would be cool but again, I am not gonna be picky.

Maybe this will get the juices flowing and me back tying before panfish, trout and steelhead season open back up.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

Okay, I think I am mistaken, Goose wing feathers for biots? It has been way too long and my brain has shifted back to fishing thought and I can't think without because I haven't had a pole in my hands on the water for 5 months.

Heard of goose biots but not turkey, but I'm still learning too. From what I've seen they usually are kinda proud of em, but we have a lot of hunters out here. My only thought is that you might wind up waiting til season before you can get any.

I find them on e-bay, most of the time you can get 10 or more on a deal. I am also sending you a PM with a link.

Hmm, I guess my full wing prices I found aren't so bad but that would make it easier than stripping my own.

I did some research again, I forgot most of it I read before, and found that the turkey biots are longer and stronger. Not sure which ones I want but I tie some pretty big steehead flies and for bass and panfish flies they would make some nice ribbed bodies and wing cases. Not to mention the extra feathers that come with the wing.

    Summer Biots

That's where I found my information on them.

Would be nice to find some turkey and goose hunters to get a bunch of wings from. Lots of uses and a lot cheaper. Just have to dry them out is all.

And Thank you Stump Hunter, that might be the way to go if I can't find which wing feathers are the right ones to buy to get biots off them.

Turkey wing feathers make great tails and you can wrap the body with the remainder like in this fly,

You can also use them for wings like I did on this fly,

Goose biots, you can tie a lot of flies from one biot using them for the tail like this fly.

Got to love all the different feathers there are to use while tying. Good luck finding what you are looking for.

That would be great plateboater. I wish there were more wild Turkey around here. Not much of a season on them in the state that I am aware of. Ducks and geese yes but not many turkey.

Check Coffin Creek furs and Moscow hide and fur they have pretty decent prices!!! Wings can be tough to get from hunters as alot of them sell them to arrow makers. I got lucky with the pair I got from a buddy in a trade.

Coffin creek looks like good stuff. If no other leads pan out I may go with them and might anyway just to have the extra. Going to do a lot of jig and fly fishing this year and I want to tie up a bunchy of more buggy looking stuff to try and see if that helps with my crappie and gill success.
