    Default Jig Vise Selection

Well after a lot of reading, I've decided to go with the Anvil Apex. It should do me for the rest of my life, no more jigs than I tie. Do any of you guys have a strong opinion of why I should not buy it? I would have ordered it today, but I forgot about the eastern time zone and they were closed. Was that a hint, lol? Let me know what you guys think. My mind could be changed, but time grows short!

    Thanks,
    Barry

I can give you 7 to 10,000 reasons to buy it. It is a nice built vice and one jaw works on any size hook I have tied with from size 22 up to a #1 on my vice.

If price is no problem I sure would look at the Nor Vise, I tie on one an love it. The Peak which I am a dealer is as good as it gets for under $150. I have no experience with the one your thinking of so don't have anything to say bad or good. If you have already looked at the Ohio Fly Fishing in depth study of all vises done a few years ago and still want the Anvil then you probably should get it, but again, I don't know enough about that one, but here is the study and feel sure the one you have selected in in this study.

Well, as a twist of fate would have it, the Anvil Vise was back ordered for several weeks, so I had to back up and punt. I ordered the Peak vice from Skip at Thumpitjigs! I know I will be satisfied, there are tons of good reviews for the Peak. It was a pleasure to chat with Skip. Glad to support the local guy anyway, so I'm glad it turned out like it did!

Thanks Skeetbum, I think I'm gonna like it! I hope that my jig tying improves by having better equipment.

    Hey Skip,

I got the vise in today, thanks for the quick shipment! I glued some leather to the top and bottom jaws of the clamp.......this should allow me to keep clamping it to the wife's table
