The few that I have done, and the dozens I have fished all started with long legs, though not quite that long. The fish will tell you how long the need to be for that certain. Some days they eat the whole package, and they are more aggressive. Other days they just want to pull on a leg and fool with it, and that's when I take the nippers to the legs and shorten 1/8 or 1/4 at a time til they quit picking at it and eat it. Sometimes I have to take em out completely. So what you have there is as good a starting point as you could have. Really nice paint, my hands aren't that steady. White with black or gray dots was an early morning winner for me also. Those look very good. The hackle may be too long, but not by much. I would have to fish em before I decided. I have to get my box out and look before I comment. been a while since I've been into it. The ones that kept me busy were just over 1/4" across the body, probably #12 or 14, in frog pattern and I could never tie those, too small for my patience level.
