Default Eagle claw 570 BP jig hook

Just wondering has anyone here tried these jig hooks in size 4, just wanting to know about the sharpness and quality, also need to know, is the barb big enough to hold a minnow on the hook, thru the lips? Been using the VMC 9147 black nickel but the barb is pretty darn small and the minnow comes off the hook pretty easy. wanting to stick with the black nickel because of the corrosion resistance. anyone have a close up pic of this hook?

Dont have any pics, but they are sharp as needles. I pour alot of them in size 4. Early spring every one wants size 2.

They actually look the same to me. Also you can get the black nickel ones in the regular aberdeen style from matzuo. There are super sharp also, and alittle cheaper I believe than the EC. We pour alot so when handle and see many different hooks a week. We pour on matzuo, EC, mustad, VMC, diacchi, and EC. And the red hooks and black nickel are my 2 favorites to pour on. The gold hooks not very many people ask for those.

Crappiejigmaker - thanks for the info. Been debating going to them as I'm about sick and tired of Matzuo. Seems I spent more money shipping un-usable hooks back to them than I used.

Have you guys not tried the regular aberdeen from matzuo? I poured 2000 between yesterday and today. Got 3 throw away hooks, and 5 hooks that were a size4. And after pouring an recounting I ended up with 2013 jigheads. Oh yea I was pouring on a size 6.

I have a couple hundred matzuo size 4 aberdeen jighooks and I can't get over the look of them, let me explain, they are super sharp for sure but the hooks point leg, I mean the section of the hook that goes from the top of the hooks bend toward the eyelet is too long for my taste, some of them are ridiculously long in this area, this would really cut down on the hooks effectiveness in hooking up, it could be just my batch though, as I have them in size 8 also and they aren't like that. my size 8's are black nickel, very very sharp and look perfect. I think they would be great for a trout jig, but I was missing crappie with them, even when bending the point up some. had me scratching my head.

Are they still to long for 1/16oz or a 1/8oz?

crappiejigmaker, it's not the shank of the hook that is too long, it's the hook's point section which causes a reduced gap between the hooks point and eyelet leg. this makes it hard to get a hookup on a fish, I wish it was the shank that was long, it would be a great hook then. quality control is what it comes down to. the proportions are wrong on my batch.

Matzuo does need tighter QC. Have you looked into a oshagnessy style hook?
