Oh me Oh my good looking as a apple pie. Now that you are infected. Just think of the fun you are going to have and you haven't even started to buy the powdered paint yet to paint the heads.

Yeah Redman that's how I started by pouring and powder coating jigs. I've just hoot sicker with this bait making since then lol. Robert just threw in a bag of un painted heads so I decided to practice on them. It's a mattereli style whip finisher. I'm getting the hang of it now. They just made it look so easy on All the videos I watched lol.
Now that you know how to use the tool, teach yourself to do it by hand!!!LOL There's a time for both!!!
That sounds like a good idea. Looks like I got some more videos to watch. I still need work with the tool so I can imagine trying to do it by hand.
Off to a great start....Just dont let the addiction get too far
Yes most of us old eeerrr seasoned tiers have been at it for years and are so far gone that we can't be cured. LOLs Well do love to spend time in my retirement doing things that I didn't get to do when I was working. Maybe others will comment but I feel that I got to be a better tier when I went in to retirement. Had more time to practice and fish. My jigs have got to be better than any time in my pass and I thought that I was really good 20 years ago. anyone else had this happen???

I never tied jigs before but have had an old fly tying kit up stairs for several years and have never put it to use.
Reading this thread got me off my duff and I went upstairs and tied up a couple also just to see how they came out.
It was a lot of fun. Xpress Fishing's look great. Think I have some more work to do :-)
God I love retirement, think I will spend some time on them tomorrow then try them out.
Thanks Xpress for the motivation.
Looks like you did a really good job for your first ones! Now I guess your hooked like the crappie you fish for, LOL!
Good job!
Thanks Everybody. This has been a fun hobby to get into so far and it seems like everybody here on the forum are all great guys and willing to help in anyway they can. Thats awesome and i appreciate it.
Keep at it drifterdon. I'm glad my post has inspired you to dust off your vice and get back after it. I look forard to seeing some of your ties. All i can say is research research research. The web is a never ending supply of information and videos and supplies unfortuneately :).
Yep Skip im hooked already started my fund to get one of them nice peak vises from you as soon as im able. :)
The best thing about this hobby is you can do it for a very long time! I just live it, but for a while it for to be a job which came close to ruining it for me, but I backed off and slowed down a little and thankfully I did it in time to be back to really enjoying it again. It's easy to get into tying for so many people that it actually take you away from fishing and that is a bad thing. The enjoyment is unlimited as long as you keep it a real hobby. My biggest problem is every time I see some new materials I like I go over board and get too much. I may end up having to go on ebay and sell some materials, LOL! Really there is so much different kinds of materials out there it's just crazy especially when you look at stiff that is actually more for fly tying and make them something to use on jigs.
i do get a lot of pleasure of helping others learn to tie and feel its a gift to be able to enjoy others joy from getting into this wonderful hobby! I am glad your enjoying it so much and look for lots of great pics of your ties!
Main thing is enjoy it!
