    Leeches and minnows.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

I caught them on just about every color but always have brown, gray, olive and black jigs on hand. I haven't found it necessary to tie a particular "pattern" but always try to have them look "buggy". If you have ever seen caddis fly larva on a stream rock or log, that is a good thing to imitate - a short cream maribou tail with a brown (debris colored) chenille works good on trout and panfish.

Hmm, up here in the north the brown trout like something a little more meaty it seems. Lots of streamers for flies and minnow patterns for jigs when I fished them in Montana and Idaho. Leeches kill them out here but they don't seem to like the bright heads on jigs, not browns anyway.
