    Default Saturday Night Fishing

Posted on main board yesterday, but think some hear may not read on that board, so is a repost.

well it was pretty good until I some how cut my little finger and since I take blood thinners and we forgot the first aid kit (everyone should have one on board) we didn't have a bandaid it wouldn't stop bleeding so had to leave them biting. Had to cut a towel piece to tie a knot around it to hold it until we could get back home. Anyway I wanted to try the Reel-Lites I just got and my new Buck's Gold Jig Pole and both passed with flying colors. The light once dark put a circle of light around my entire boat, even on the other side. We caught some small fish as well, but got 3 Bass, 3 keeper crappie and a couple Yellow Bass to bring home. My 16" (without pinching the tail) crappie was the one fish that even with my finger made it a great night. As close as I can tell since only had one of the Boga Grip kind was 2 1/2 pounds.

My finger sure cut short what looked like a promising night out!

Almost forgot the 2 largest crappie and at least one bass came on 1/4 Oz jigs.

    Here are a couple pics...

Thanks guys, has a lot of fun even though my night was cut short and can't wait to go again. I do need to put out some brush in a bad way as I have procrastinated to long and now that I have a bit of time I just need a little help putting it out!

Skip when fishing, I carry super glue for cuts. It burns like heck for a second but seals up those line cuts that are like a paper cut instantly. PS super glue is cured instantly by water... I usually only need it when I'm winter steelhead fishing for several days straight and my hands take a beating.

PA that would not have worked on mine this time because something took a chunk of skin out so not like a regular cut. Then me being on blood thinners it was just pouring out and I had only a towel to cut the strip from to tie on it for pressure. I am going to look into some powered they are suppose to have out not for people like me on Warfarin that my Doc says will stop bleeding. I have some of the glue kind, but didn't have it with me and don't think it would have helped if I had it then. It was still bleeding every time I checked it until I finally bandaged it the next morning just like it just happened. Hours of pressure did nothing to slow it. Thanks for the info though. I will not get caught out again without some way of bandaging it with pressure so I can keep fishing next time if there is one, but hope not again.

Skip Nice fish and sounds like you had a nice time until the accident. Just a old Indian trick to stop bleeding carry a bottle of Cayenne pepper. Pour it on the cut and it will stop the bleeding 10 seconds or less. It burns like heck for a little bit but will stop the bleeding just about however bad it is. Don't ask my why it works but it does. But will say that a good first aid kit is a good as a well filled of tackle box at times. Next time you bet you fill the Ice chest with a bunch of them big Slabs.
