Default Made some new spinners and tied some trebles

Well getting the wire out again for some new spinners and also tied up some trebles. It started out the nephew wanting me to copy a spinner for him.

Copy Cat - One on left is the original the one on the right is mine

Some more assorted and tied trebles

Hey FM ... those Rooster Tails are some line twisting creatures. Rofl (almost as bad as the old "Shyster" )

Have you ever seen the ones with the offset shank (spinnerbait style) .... called the Super Rooster Tail ? Yakima Bait Company ::...

BTW ... I checked around in my tacklebox, but did not find that Peacock RR, so it must be lying in the floor of the boat, somewhere. If that treble, in the top left corner of your bottom picture, is tied with Peacock feather .... that bluish green portion (bottom left quarter) of the feather is dead on what I'm calling "Teal". The neck thread looks pretty close, too.

Good copy, very close to the original. All of them look like winners to me. I don't get them on the line much lately but I still have em in the box. Good work.
Hey CP, don't be beatin up on the Shyster now!! in their last days they came up with an odd looking offset that worked very well at reducing the twist. Then they were gone. I can't tell you how many fish I caught on them. The ripple blade was another signature that I don't see much of either. I caught a mayfly hatch once and caught a fish on most every cast for 3 days, then like the Shyster - poof - they too were gone. One of the best ever, and got to take a newbie to it before it was over. Good memories there. Thanks for draggin em back up.

Yep, Skeet ... I think a Shyster was probably the first "artificial" bait I ever used. Good memories, for sure !! I even remember the offset shank version, which WAS a great improvement. But ... they're NOT gone !! Luhr-Jensen still makes them :

Hey Fatman this is so ironic that you posted this I just got out my rooster tail body mold yesterday and poured some bodies. We have a trout rodeo every single year and I'm getting ready for it! LOL Just curious what size blade you used on the top right white rooster tail immitation? I need to buy some blades and wire and I'm not sure what to buy or where to buy it from. Any help would be awesome and by the way your immitation looks great!

is a wire former necessary? I was thinking of getting the wire that has the loop at the top and then just bending the one down by the treble with pliers...

    thanks gang!!!

Pappy - Yep seen em and gonna try and make a few - waiting on some bodies I traded for. The feather was a peacock neck feather but I've got one more box to check for the chenille I was talking about, I'll either find it or buy something to match!!!! I am going to make something as close to the original as I can!!! LOL

Skeet - I actually think I have some of the ripple blades "Somewhere" - trying to find something I know I have for a trade and I'm finding lots' of stuff I can really use!!!LOL

VA Crappie Man - For wire I use either .024 for the 1/32nd oz bodies and .031 for all the other bodies. I found folded clevis's to spin better and there's no flat edge to pick up grass particles in the water. Blade is a Size 1 - Actually an old Netcraft Blade - the combined company calls them minnow blades and charges more. 1/32nd oz body Size 0 or 00, 1/16 oz body Size 1 whatever type blade, and the 1/8th and 1/4th oz you can try Size 1 but sometimes a 2 is better. The wire former is not necessary - but it makes it a whole lot easier!!!!!!! If you decide to bend by hand get a pair of bent nose needle nose pliers

Stump - 16 guage is pretty small may bend really easy on ya. On the Wire former TELL ME YOU GOT THE PACKAGE DEAL WITH THE BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!! The former is kinda useless without it!!! If you didn't call and see if you can change it!!! and when you get it there is going to be a heavy wire piece with an eyelet IT"S NOT FOR SPINNERS!!!! LOL Paint the eyelet put paint marks on the length of it whatever this is the mandrell wire for making certain wire bends without it you can't do lots of fun things!!!!!!!!!!

Any other questions let me know!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info Fatman. I already have some .031 wire but plan to use some 16 on a few things I want to try out before I bend the 31 gage. You know questions are to follow!!LOL
