Default craft fur and thread question

Has anyone used craft fur? what has been your experience with it? and the other question I have is can sewing thread be used instead of fly tying thread? I'm going on a fishing trip tomorrow and don't have time to place an order for the color threads I need. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Used plenty of craft fur!!! I'd say on the thread you can but I'd use the heavier carpet thread, or the clear nylon

Regular thread isn't the best so don't tie too many and get what's needed asap. Extra select craft fur is a lot friendlier than regular craft fur but both do very well, lots of action.

I'm new to tying and I used regular thread until my order arrived from crazyanglertackle.com. I thought the regular thread was okay...then I started using the waxed flymaster, Danville 210 denier. It feels thinner than regular thread but is much stronger and has better grip on material.

I am sure regular thread will work, but the Danville and Ultra Thread is much better IMHO! I also like waxed for jigs. I did have someone tell me the unwaxed was better for something in fly tying, but don't remember what it was for sure, but think it was tying on Barbell eyes on a hook maybe??

Craft fur is okay and used a good bit, but I don't like it as much as real hair. I don't care much for Northern Buck tails, but Southern are better and more thin and flexible. I like Rabbit, Fox and several others much more than craft fur.

I prefer the flat waxed nylon myself but you definetly want a heavier denier than standard sewing thread and if you are stuck for a quick sewing thread for a temp use ZAP IT glue over the threads helps alot. Craft fur isnt to bad at all it takes a little getting used to from cutting a peice off from the carpet type holder lol I prefer the real hair myself but everyone does have theyr favorite to work with .
