Personally I would go with a barbed collar jig head with a standard wire hook. 1/8 oz. or larger on at least #2.

I was looking on pouring or buying jigheads for throwing a 3" Grub... I have a mold that will pour them without a collar but I believe I might want the collar. Also, I'm going to use these to fish for walleye and we get hung up alot fishing them so would I be better off with a light wire hook? Would you all recommend a sickle hook or a regular hook or light wire... Also, what size hook would be good for the 3" grub? I'm going to be looking at 1/8 oz and 1/4 oz I believe...
Thanks,

Forget the sickle, go black nickle. You will be glad you did,,we have tried all the rest
When I fish a 3" grub I use a #1 hook on the 1/8th oz and a 1/0 hook on the 1/4 oz. I use regular Mustad jig hooks. I use sickles on the panfish jigs
I like a 1/0 hook jig for 3" grubs. I have some in 1/16th oz from Cabelas I think that do have the barbs. I use those quite a bit, but I have them up to 1/2 oz too. If I am using a jig without a barb, a lil drop of super glue on the top 1/4" of the hook before you slide the grub on solves the problem. I use a 3" grub alot for Walleye here on the 'ol Miss.

BTW, those Cabela's 1/16th's wkith a 1/0 hook will bend out with some moderate snag pressure, but hold up well against fighting Walleye. I've taken 10lbers here on them. I use the see through candy green chartreuse colored ones, or the blacke with yellow & black eyes.

Charle brewer has a leadhead called a nutter head.looks like the slider head but is round. We also make a head close to it use a # 1 or 1/0 lite wire eagle claw hook works great. We use them for our wallaye on Greers Ferry lake.works great.Make them in 1/16 oz,1/8 oz and 3/16 oz.

3" Grubs, I like 1/8 with a 1 or 1/0, or 1/4 with a 1/0. I use round heads w/barb, walleye jig, Erie head and Ultra Minnow heads. Those ultra minnow heads really give those grubs a walking action and work great for Gulp minnows. I only use round bend hooks when pitching or even vertical fishing eyes. I've just lost to many eyes fishing sickles, but they're great for crappie.
