    Default Non lead Crappie jigs?

Up here in Massachusetts and coming around to the Northeast in general we are being hit with lead bans in a lot of areas.

There are some crappie guys up here that are looking for non-lead pretied crappie jigs. We have a lot of sources for just plain unadorned jig heads, tin/bismuth alloys, but many guys don't want to go through the hassle of tying the various hairs like maribou, chenille and others to the plain jigs.

Is there some place on here or can you point me to a source where pretied NO LEAD crappie jigs are available.

I looked quickly at the forms but don't have time to do a real search here.

    Thanks for any info.

I don't know of anyone that ties on them yet. I have gotten some jig heads but I am not ready to dedicate the time to tie jigs and sell them in mass yet. Might be bale to convince someone on here to tie for you in lead free if you send them the jig heads.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

I tied some Tungsten Beads on jig hooks. You can see a few on my site I think on the new stuff page. I can't get very heavy, but not bad at all. SO I do have a jig or so to speak that is non lead. I can do these in marabou as well as some other t ail materials.

Here is a link to some tied as Hackle jigs.

    Default Thanks Guys

Was hoping that maybe someone outside of the Northeast was tying up some non-lead jigs for the pan fish. Some guys up here have gone into production for the skirted larger bass jigs for like a jig & pig set-up but no one seems to be into the smaller pan/crappie jigs yet.

A lot of the guys on my local fishing forum are getting their non-lead small jigs from a fellow out in Hawaii. Turns out a very well made jig with a variety of hooks styles and weights but with no adornments. Great for the plastics but not much else. Just no one local is tying the feathers etc on for sale.

This whole lead an thing up here is getting to be a real PIA! I along with many others had to spend hundreds of dollars in the switch away from lead to more eco-friendly stuff. Hurt to have to throw away many pounds of sinkers, jigs, weighted hook etc. I might add that of all the bans the worst is in the Commywealth of Assachusetts! The ban is all over the board with definitions of what is or is not legal. Got to be a lawyer to try and figure it out. There will be a lot of fishermen getting written up and fined because of the confusion!

Any way I'll keep checking back here. If someone does start tying on tin/bismuth alloys which are legal up here post um up and send me links. I'll post them up on some of the Northeast fishing forums I frequent. I think someone could make a pretty penny if they were to turn out a "green" jig all tied up.

Again I'll keep checking back. Sighing out today from the Peoples Republic of Taxachusetts and the FUBAR'ed liberal bastion of the Northeast! Got to get my arse moved to Florida soon!

O.K., here's another way of asking this question. Would anyone here tie crappie jigs from bismuth/tin jig heads we can send to them? I can get the jig heads, just can't get tied crappie jigs.

Yes I did....however, I can't afford tungsten! I've got a guy making me some plain bismuth/tin ball heads. Just looking for the tie.

Like donnie and I have said "he can do them". All you have to do is send them to him and let him know how and what colors you want.
