colored the bottom half of the chenille black it was all white.

Looks good! I tie something similar but when I tie in my chenille i use a small piece of the color I want to use for the stripe and lay it over and then tie it in after I lay the body.

Like raw said, next time tie it the color you want, but before you tie in the chenille body tie in a short piece of white if that is what you want the top to be and then after the chenille is done bring the piece you tied in and left hanging out the back side over and trap it with your thread and then finish.
