Also wanted to know if you all thought a #10 sickle was to small for crappie? I am going to be using 1/80 oz and 1/64 oz jig heads. Thanks in advance.

I am looking for bulk #10 Matzuo Sickle hooks (prefer black nickel) I found some on captain hooks but they only have the red available and crazy angler doesn't have any size #10 sickle hooks right now. Does anyone know a good place I can find those for cheap?
Thanks,
VCM

Here is where you can find them, look under hooks. I use #6 hooks on 1/64. Not sure how a #10 will work on a crappie but we use very small hooks to catch trout at times. Just saying!

Will add my 2 cents. I would go with a #8 or 6 sickle for crappie. I have taken crappie on #10 but would rather use a #6 when ever possible. #8 on a 1/64 round head is a favorite in the March thur May crappie and bream time here in this part of Texas.

I have my 1/80 oz on a #10 and my 1/64 oz on a #8 but, I was going to do them all on the same size hook. I was trying to debate which size would be better. I suppose a #8 is just fine for catching bream too. I am just so used to using 1/100 oz and 1/124 oz stuff at this one lake which is full of very very small crappie... Very rare to catch one over 10 inches. Now the past few years I've been fishing a bigger body of water thats got some big crappie in it and last year I lost a really nice one on a little 1/100 oz that had a #10 aberdeen hook on it (I feel like the gap on the sickle hooks are larger). I'm just not used to using the size hooks you guys use and I'm also throwing these flies under a float from the bank. I think I might try the #8's this year and see how they do because they seem to big but the #6's I've got are huge to me that is.
Thanks,

Crappies will take on some big baits so don't be afraid to tie on a big bait. The last 11 inch crappie I cleaned had a 4 inch Gizzard shad in it's belly. They are a eating machine and if they want it bad enough they will eat it. Most of the Crappie fisherman around here are using a #4 or bigger right now.
