Go to Rit dye and look at there color palet. Hundreds of colors. Instead of using salt that there directions call for, use vinegar. That will let the hair and feathers accept the dye. Most colors you can get at WalMart or a grocery store.

does anyone dye thier own feathers/maraboo or buck tail hair?... if so.. what dye do you use and where do you get it....being a cheap SOB I am always looking for DIY ways to go...LOLbanghead

and the purpose of the vinegar is to set the dye ? May be trying some mallard flank sometime in the near future.

The post by Skip and the instructions were right on,very good instruction. I'll have to check out the Veniards dyes and see if they have some colors I could use.
