I use #4 and stay out of the brush lots more than I do when they have a #2 hook in them. If you fish open water primarily a #2 would do well. I didn't notice any loss of fish from the smaller hook, a lot of them are hooked in the roof of the mouth.

Yeah, I generally dip in deep brush. The majority of the time, I use 1/16oz, but not long ago I used some 1/8oz because of the wind, and the bonus was I was consistantly catching larger fish. So that is my winter project, is to make some for my crew.

All I fish is standing timber and deep brush. I use a #1 Sickle in my 1/8 oz jigs. Hardly ever miss a fish now, and very few hang-ups.

Hey, thanks for all your help. One other thing, which might be a stupid question, but, I'm thinking of upgrading my vise. (a have a cheap one that came in a kit). Is there a difference between a fly tying vise and a jig tying vise?????????????? And any suggestions?
