Here is a question that nobody has answered for me. Why is a 1/24 oz. so highly sought after? I have three molds that I built back in my mid-west yellow perch days. All 1/24 oz and appears to be quite by accident that we decided on that size. We all just thought that they looked really slick the only reason that I can give to make them that size. Now that I am in to crappie fishing every one wants that size I like the 1/8 oz much better but still pour a good number of 1/24 oz. mainly out of habit. BTW I converted all those molds to take Sickle hooks. Sure glad I did!!!!!

Smaller profile, bigger than 1/32 , but smaller than 1/16. I get several requests for 1/24....
Slab Stik'r Jigs
The 1/24 ounce jig is used mostly for trolling the in-between 1/32 and 1/16 ounce jig depths.
Hope this helps,

I want my jigs to fall as SLOW as possible, I would use 1/32 all the time if I could, but the wind makes that hard to do. if I am fishing deep I will use 1/16 oz but that is not very often. I mainly cast and shoot docks. I dont think I even have any 1/8 jigs in my tackle box lol
I think I understand more now than I did. Some of us have to fish different waters and use different techniques. Not only is Caddo Lake a Lake but we have a river system and many swamps and bayous. I do a lot of river fishing and fish in some current and use a 1/8 oz. for that. When I fish the big lake I use 1/16 in a #6 or #4. Fish the Islands and the trees a 1/24oz. or 1/32 oz. There are times when I longline and shoot docks I will use what ever seems right.
It appears that there is no one jigs fits all. That is a good thing for the mold makers. May be one day Do-It will start making a 1/24 oz. Until then the search continues.

Okay this is a old you tube video but have it now saved to the hard drive. crappie fishing making a 1/24 ounce jighead mold - YouTube It tellsyou how to modify a 1/32 oz Do-It mold to a 1/24 oz. mold. Cool, worth a few minutes of your time and Dang you know that I will give it a try just to say that I have done it.
