Default ? for you jig tyers

you guys sure turn out some pretty stuff, but wondering how you use the ties you make, longline, cast, verticle jig, or how the people who buy your jigs use them? Just curious. They seem almost too pretty to actually use to catch some stinkin crappie LOL

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Mainly vertical, but that will change and I will cast using a slip bobber here soon! it really depends if you have a boat, or are stuck to the bank.. RonDon makes some killer chubspins, minspins etc. that let you cast and retrieve. these will be a blast to use during the spawn.........

Use them about anyway you catch crappie, Personally I longline and cast some in the spring, will also use them under a bobber. Later vertical maybe over a brush pile or even a lay down on the bottom. Had a friend come here in July with another friend and their girl friends. They fished 2 days and 3-4 hours each day and total was 276 crappie with most going 1- 1.4 pounds all on lay downs. They had two boats and this was only his 2nd time on this lake. They never got out of site from the marina they stayed at. They only kept 150 and had a ball.

Most of my jigs goes to guys that longlines or spider rigs. I do have some that shots docks, uses em under a float and jigs with them.

I use em to catch Crappie, no matter what presentation. If I fish a real grabby pile in deep water, I will go to plastic so I don't lose so many. But the only way they don't catch fish is leaving them in your box. Hook size sometimes changes with a particular method, like a #1 or #2 for trolling, some folks even go bigger. If they only want my hand ties, I'll go to a #6 to try and get around the brush and not get hung. All my hooks are sickle hooks, and I don't notice missed fish with the smaller hook.

I have to agree with Skip and Skeeterbum. They may look pretty but that don't put food on the table. I have the wife and I , Four Dogs and Two Cats to feed. They better work or someone will go hungry. Sure would hate to see the wife go without a meal.

I have become addicted to verticle jig fishing. There is just something about watching that line jump. Slab Crappie absolutly can not stand a jig in their face for very long.
