    Default Airbrush Suggest??

I'm just getting into making and painting Crankbaits. I've got a old cheap airbrush by testors, it don't shoot anything but wide spray patterns. Does anyone have suggestion for a better one that your able to adjust the spray pattern, that don't don't break the bank.
Hopefully under 100 bucks including the compressor. Thanks.

    Default Suggestion for under $100.00

For spraying popper heads, I use the Copic air brush system. It's inexpensive, and best of all, you don't have to clean an airbrush system with solvents when your done.

The system uses sketch markers that come in about 400 different colors. Here is a link for a start kit The markers are about five dollars ea. and last quite awhile. I get along with about six colors for painting popper heads. It also operates from a compressor or an air canister.

It's a clean way to spray and there is no odor, no clogging. If you are going to do a high volume, then this is not the system for you. I would recommend getting a good compressor and a top of the line air brush. Dick Blick Art Supply has a sale on these as well as the markers. Good luck.

The real stuff is used by the guys who do custom car work. It would be worth a 6 pack to go by and pick on of these guys brain for a while. T shirt vendors at fairs and flea markets might be a thought.

I would go with a Paasche VL-3 double action airbrush. Around $70 for the kit which includes tips, needles and an air hose for the compressor, cups and jars. If you want the best go with a Iwata Eclipse HP-CS Gravity Feed Airbrush, $125.00. Can't go wrong with either of these and you will be happy with them. If you need help, send me a PM. I have been airbrushing for 31 years. I paint crankbaits.

I really like the 15.00 one at Harbour Freight tools. Don't laugh...I know a world class fish taxidermist that won't use anything else. He even has a $300 Iwata. I like the small spray that you can get with this airbrush. I asked my taxidermist friend how small of a dot could he make with it. He said..."I can put a dot on a mosquito's rear"! I think that they are on sale for 12 bucks right now with a limit of 7. They come with a cup, a siphon jar, and an airbrush holder.
