    Thanks guys!

It's Strung saddle hackle, but some of it is Badger strung saddle hackle. Total about 5"to 6" long feathers. Today I got in a bunch of CDL and she started asking about that for her hair, but I don't know. Got a neighbor lady that already ask about some for her hair and she's over 70 I think and has short hair. I can't turn her down though because her husband was a commander over one of the artillery units that was in Nam and tried to help the guys that the movie "W e Were Soldiers" which is a true story and great Nam movie and very little was Hollywood. If you have not seen that movie, it's on all the time on like Showtime and Starz or even the History Channel or around there. This was the story of the first time our military tried dropping a bunch of troops in an area to take on the enemy. This one was the test and we lost over 350 soldiers in like 3 days. every Chopper pilot got the Medal of Honor. It's an awesome true movie and Mel Gibson played the commander of ther troops who was Col. Hal Moore. I have a copy of the book autographed by a good many of the real guys. The get together every year. Oh I can go on huh, LOL?

I made just one probably 3 months ago and then one day a couple weeks back she as that I make the other one so she would have a set. So I tied the other and now she has a set. I wanted to get some gold plated hooks or what ever they call these things and make them a bit nicer, but she said that she likes silver anyway so. I also used some silver color wire to go back over the silk thread and then I used that new UV glue stuff to coat the tie in area so it's like having epoxy over it all.

Skip, that is just too wierd.......I was just looking at one of my wife's mail order catalogs...saw some of the high dollar earrings, and thought that I need to post that you ought to try making some. Probably way harder than a jig, but the price they sell for??? Wow!

SM I know it's crazy with all the feathers sold out most places. I was lucky to see it coming and got a lot of them. I didn't expect to see it get to Salt water Neck hackle, but it has.

It is a lot slower than a jig, but not really so much that it takes a long time. I don't think I spent over 5-10 minutes on each and lots of the picking out the colors and feathers to be close as you can usually get exact anyway. Also truing to avoid the hook is strange as it's in the way a lot. I started thinking about doing this about 3-4 years back and just never really pursued it. I was even talking about putting up a page on my web site for them, LOL!

I did go a step more than I think people making them do because of the epoxy like UV Glue I put on after I was done tying. That stuff will stay wet until you hit it with one of the little power UV lights or stick it in the sunshine.

I got that stuff to use on jigs and flies, but came in useful for this too.

Nicely Done Skip. I got out of the jewelry business after 49 years. I am retired and will not even attempt a pair. I have all the stuff to make some but Now I am a jig tier and in Geezer mode. Will let all you young pups fool with that sort of thing.
