Default vise sold on crazy anglers website

has anyone purchased or used the AA vise that is sold on crazy anglers website. I will be going on a road trip in a few weeks and will pass a cabela's and a bass pro. Was thinking about stopping at both and check out their vises or maybe just order the one on craz's website. any input would be greatly appreciated.

dont just order a vise...if you have a chance to check some out take the opportunity to do so. There are so many things to take into account before you purchase a vice. Vise size, what size hooks it will hold, what will be your most tied patterns, does it need to be portable, how large are your hands and your tying style. Thats just to name a few. You do not have to have a high end set up to tie quality jigs or fly's. In my opinion the high end vise,s or more for convince and comfort of the one tying. Saying that, if you tie large numbers of Fly's or jigs this comfort factor will play a part in your tying experience. I have four vise's right now ranging from $19 to $300+. my jigs are the same quality on all three. All vises do no not hold hooks as tight and stable but again they can be made to work. The cheaper vices will not be built with quality metals and may not last as long as your higher end vices. They also dont have the warranties your higher end vices have. Read lots of reviews before you buy. It all boils down to what you want to spend and your comfort level. happy tying

Where I live does not afford me too many opportunities to see one up close. Thats why I am hoping that on my trip that cabela's ot basspro might have the ones they sell on display. I do not have very large hands, mine are generally average to smaller with fairly nimble fingers. I primarily will be tying jigs with maybe some interest in flies later. I would like my first one to be portable. Later on I might take the time to make myself a tying desk.

I have not looked at Bass Pro or Cabela's vises lately, but have never see either with good prices for their materials for jig and fly tying. Just my 2 cents. If you try them at these stores and then buy them from some place else I think you could probably save a few bucks, but not 100% positive about that.

If you want to read about a large number of vises by price level here is a great study that was done a few years back...

I am only gonna get my tying supplies from crazy. I got some powder paints from him and I am very impressed with his business. The only thing I was considering from basspro and cabelas was their vises, as they had some from several different price points.

MY two cents. A regal vise or an import knock off is hard to beat! Just open with a spring handle, no adjusting for size of hook. You can get fancy and get a long tying table and get 3 or 4 imports for the price of a regal and use a
chair with wheels and move back and forth and get some real production going. Fishin' Jimmy

I just bought a Danica Danvise new off ebay for $69 with free shipping, so far I really like it, nice vise.
I used the fly vise review link from fly fish Ohio that Skiptomylu posted to make my decision. Very light weight and compact, nice clamp to table. I'm no expert but I think I am going to really like it.
