    [FONT=Tahoma]Here is my first attempt at tying a 1/32-oz weedless brush guard jig. It took forever and getting it tied off at the head was definitely a challenge. I think there are several things I can do to improve on the next ones I do. I know these babies are going to be Slab Slayers, being fished in the tightest cover with the confidence of knowing they will make it back out.

    The picture makes them look much larger, but they are 1/32 oz and about 1-1/2" long.

    Prowler ... I think the weedguard will offset any "holding" problems, that some have mentioned about the sickle hooks (due to the short barb). I've caught several fish, in the lip, and had the hookset & playing in of the fish cause a large hole in the mouth membrane ... but, still landed those fish, due to the weedguard acting as a retainer and not letting the fish thrash the hook out of its mouth/off its lip.

    Have you tried, or considered trying, using the Y guard on these types of custom tied jigs ??

    Am not a big fan of weed guards but have to agree with crappiepappy that a y type guard might be a better choice. Jig looks good but I think that a y would make a better profile jig. Just a opinion no data to back it up.

    Take my opinion for what its worth. It cost you nothing and that is what it may be worth.
