    Nice... Only problem I have with herl is it isn't to tough...

    I like herl for making bodies but for tails on jigs I use the peacock sword feathers, gives a little different profile than the herl. Here's a pic of them Peacock Sword Feather 10-12 inches Natural from ostrich.com

    Fatman if I use it on jigs for tails I too use the swords, but also like making Herl Chenille for a body and probably reinforcing it some too. I think fish just like the colors that it puts off.

    I haven't tied with any in a long time, but IIRC the herl breaks so easy. Still a great color!

    Thanks, the herl looked fragile, but ill try it out on the few i tied with it....
