Question What is the correct definition of a jig?

Webster does not give a definition. What I see here are the lead heads with a 90 deg hook. Where do the fly tiers post their creations and where do you draw the line to what can and cannot be posted for a lure? I do see post on micro spoons. Being new to the form I don't know.

I'd have to say, a jig is: a lure/meat hook where the hook and delivery system (ie: weight) are attached to each other in one complete unit. In my opinion, the 90 deg bend does not make a difference. Lots of molds use 60 deg bends, but not so much for crappie size jigs.

If it doesn't flaot and can be used under a float or "jigged" by itself then my vote would be it qualifies as a jig.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

We enjoy seeing flies as well so post them. I tie some too and have posted them some.
