i pour and tie my own jigs. for colors i use vinyl paint. i am considering using acrylic paint.i am unsure if the acrylic will dissolve when wet or does it become permanent after it dries on my jigs. there are so many more colors and acrylic is much cheaper, what do you think???
thanks,

I use FolkArt Outdoor Acrylic (Walmart) for eyes and I put some in a glass of water for a week and they did not discolor or fade.No clearcoat on the test. Lots of different colors. Good luck.....Ifish

I use it for eyes too, but always put clear coat over it. Don't know how it will hold up with out clear coat though! I do know I just like powder paint a lot better than any of the others you mentioned.

I also use it for eyes over my powder painted jigs. I clear coat over the acrylic as the others do.

Most of the acrylics are like everyone else says need a clear coat, I use epoxy it's what I like when I use it. Most of my jigs get powder painted, just way faster.
I've painted a few jig heads with acrylics and clear coated them with Top Coat nail polish, they seem to hold up just as well as Nail polish thats clear coated.
When you guys use the powder paint, is there any trick to get the paint back out of the eye of the hook? I like the ease of the powder, but hate sitting there clipping the paint back out of the eye of the hook.......

Grab your hook at the bend and take your time using the powder paint. I NEVER have any paint in my eye.

hey wvspec,
i also use pp. iused to dip my jigs and like you i would have to chip and clean the eye out. well my solution - i use my paint brush to dip into the pp and brush it on just like regular paint. i am careful not to get it in the eyes. it takes a little more time but it works just fine for me..
hope this helps.
