    Default Jig Tying Materials.....Dollar Store

I bought some mylar gift bag shredding at the Dollar Tree. It comes in silver, gold, red and a few other colors. I tie jigs in either gold or silver having a red stripe down each side and have caught 21 species of fish so far. I start by making a fan of silver vertically on each side and finish the fly by adding the red stripe.

My last purchase there was several "Hair Extensions" for little girls, it's a very fine fibered material in a variety of colors. Comes in a golden beige, chartreuse, hot pink, blue, brown and others. When cut off, the fibers are two feet long. I use electrical cord ties every eight inches or so and then re-cut. Very flexible material, very fine and a good way to enhance coloration on the fly.

You will find the mylar near the gift bags. They are the Voila brand.
The "Hair Extensions" are in the toys.

Another good material for making craw/bug eyes is to find a round hairbrush with plastic combs. Most often they are stuck in the brush handle by jamming a hook shape into the holes of the handle and will pull out with pliars. Once out, you can use the hook end for tying or easily clip them off if not needed. The other end has a teardrop shaped knob on the end making great eyes on the stalks. I realize this may work better for bass jigs, but should you need eyes on stalks, they work well.

Sounds like you have fun exploring different stores for materials. I also shop dollar stores, thrift stores, flea markets, beauty supply shops, and hobby stores. You can find a lot of interesting materials there. Please post a photo of your creation. If you type in Mylar jigs in the search box you will see what others have done with similar material.
