Red face What's a jig supposed to do?

I'd think a jig would imitate a small easy bite to a Crappie.
It's something a Crappie would rush over and get before "all them other guys get to it first"

I'd think a jig would sorta imitate a minnow or whatever else might tease a Crappie.
So...if it'd tease a Crappie, why not a Bass, Catfish, or even a water Snake?
Trout fishing with a fly, I've had Birds fighting over the fly. Now that's a good imitation.

In Rivers there are Shad. Much larger than the Minnows in the Smaller lakes.

Every little morsel fish has a tail with a spine going up and another going down. A nice Fan shaped spread that waft's up n' down with the Morsel as he follows the whims of the school.
A shiny Body and an Eye. A big Eye!

so wouldn't a successful minnow imitation have those qualities?
I've never seen a jig like I'm thinking.
Green, Pink etc. What the heck has those colors?

It seems to me there'd be ONE jig that would be the "GO TO" guy in all weather and 'other' conditions.

So....it also seems that most Jigs catch fishermen. Also Jig tiers make some pretty handsome works of art to please themselves as well as to gather 'oooohs and ahhhhs' from other Jig tyer's.

So for me the novice Crappie fisherman, what's the straight skinny here?
    What's the good one?
What's the jig that does what a Jig is supposed to do?
I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D

Well for me last May (have not fished since) this one just killed them and not hooking them in the lips, but in the back of their mouths as if they ate it, yes ate it. The spiky silver will lay down and back when wet so here is the colors found in may fish, silver and blue. This is probably the only picture on my site of one already tied on my line, LOL! I have a ton of faith in this little flashy jig that it will fish as good as any. It's not the only one that I feel that way about though as like my Christmas jig that I have used since the mid 1970's sill works just fine as do many other jigs. What the Christmas jig looks like to a crappie I don't know, but I know it works!

Oh forgot you main questions...what is a jig suppose to do? Catch fish!

Skip your jig has those long tail pieces.
did you notice your Jig is shown upside down?
I wonder if more would sell if they were shown right side up?
And how about a photo of the Jig inside a Glass enclosure with water so the Jig would be seen as the fish see it?

I imagine a White gauzy substance between the eye of the jig and the point of the hook. To suggest to the Crappie, a glittery fat luscious tidbit, with those two tail pieces sticking out, but separated so there is one up and one down quite a ways apart. Long and willowy too.

Well I already sell more than I can stand so really don't need or want more. Don't care how it look in the picture as long as it catches fish and there are lots of guys out there that will tell you how they work.

I also hate to tell you but the jig in the picture I posted the link to is right side up, LOL! And no I don't think any of the things you said would help sell more. For sure I can't keep up now so why would I want even more to tie.

Oh sorry forgot one thing...there is no white gauzy stuff on this jig and it's all silver.

Looks Orange or Gold to me.
If the line ties onto the Eyelet, and the lead hangs down below the Eyelet, the Jig is Tail down when it's on your line.
So...in the photo it's upside down.

If you don't know how to tie a jig on, why ask what works?

I am thinking about now that you need to adjust your screen on your computer as it looks nothing like Orange or Gold even though I have Gold too.

Also it hangs from the eye on top where you see the line tied on and the blade on this bait is underneath the jig as it's fished.

Now most of my jig pictures are upside down, but not that one and mostly they are upside down because of what is holding the jig for the pic.

Look you really need to learn a lot more especially if you don't know what is upside down and what is right side up.
