Glow in the dark jigs

These jigs are tyed with all glow materials. Jigs on the left are tyed with glow in the dark wig hair. Action is not good (probably better for larger jigs) and the wigs are real expensive. Tail material, for the jigs on the right, is multi strands of glow thread.

Led have always enjoyed the glow jig pictures. When I did Walleye fishing Glow jigs worked well in the fall on moonless nights. I know that Skip and several others have spent time and effort on developing there type of glow jigs. Hats off to all who have and share that information and pictures. That being said I have a question??? When do you use them and how effective are they over no glow jigs. I have some glow plastics and Glow crappie nibbles. They seem to work no better or worse that the non glow products. Would someone please enlighten ( pun not intended ) as to when to use them most effectively. Personally I love to see the soft glow come off of them. Now that is really cool looking.

Redman I have caught more crappie on glow jig during the day than at night. The sun will change them every time you bring them in and once you get past 10' down the light is very low and they will glow well. Mine glow very bright and for long time too.

One day soon I will tell how I do this, but I bet a some will not go there.
This is just holding the jig under my table and taking a picture during the day time. I use a regular hackle tail or marabou.

LH - Nice looking jigs! Maybe the wig material would be better suited for the colder months, i like a little less action once the water temps cool down... maybe just me.

Skip - Why so "tight lipped"??? Haha, just kidding with ya. :p

Big difference in the actual color of the glow between the jigs posted here, wonder if that would make any difference as well. Mr. Gill & Mrs. Crappie...... Would you like your radioactive minnows in a shade of blue or green today? :D

You can make a fair number of glow color, but only a few are really good and bright too. green is brightest and Blue is Next. Well one Blue is anyway and part of the problem with mine and having more than a couple colors if keeping the stuff from just drying up before you use it. It's kind of a pain and the mix is critical and a few other little thing that make it work well.

It took me a few months of research and experimenting and on the phone talking to Mfg. a lot to get it right. I came up with mine almost 5 years back now, well closer to 4 1/2 years ago.

Ask Ship, he tried his best to figure it out and never did, but I finally made a deal with him that if I told him how he couldn't tell, LOL! Once I did, he freely admitted he would have never figured it out. Too many variables and work to develop it. I just figure if someone wants to learn then they need to get after the digging the info out and think of the materials to do this. Ship worked so hard on it I just figured he deserved knowing. No one else has put in the effort so I don't tell so far.

I am kind of that way about a lot of things, I think everyone should put in some effort before handing them tips and how to do things. If they don't want to work on it then I don't feel they deserve knowing. All it takes is doing the due diligence and trying to find info on their own before it's handed to them on a platter.

Some may say I am being a Pain in the tail, but I just don't believe in handing people things with no work put in by them. Some don't like my approach to things and that is fine with me as it their right, but it's also my right to share with who I want and not share with others.

Thank you! They glow like crazy and really bright. I don't even turn off the over head light to take these pictures. Just hold them under my table.

Haha, no Skip, i am not interested in your secret formula for the Krabby Patty. I just saw your post earlier about how the board was slow and 'tight lipped' and thought it was kinda humorous. I guess when you are in the biz, you got to keep those trade secrets close. Think i have given up just about all the little tricks i have learned, but thats just me. BTW - If a guy named Plankton shows up at your door one day, lock that formula away in the vault and kick him out of the Krusty Krab!!!

Sorry... with having 2 young kids at home, i end up watching a little too much Spongebob. :D
