Glad to see the crappie are already starting to fatten up. Would love to hear some details, how deep, how you were fishing, etc. With cooler temps, the next two weeks should see crappie move up.
NP, you have one of the jigs I was using today, it was sent to you in the Sweet 16 swap. The one with the toe tag. All jigs used were 1/16 or 1/32, and nothing fancy. I tie a 1/32 with 2 vee's of chart hackle and a small tinsel chenille and 1 strip of red crystal flash. Bare lead head. This falls so slow that the fish take it out of boredom, I think. I did use one of the 1/24 red/white headed white guinea feather jigs pictured in my post titled" Mixed Up". It did a wonderful job, and I still have it. Durable, so far. We pitched a few boathouses and caught most out of one in 16 to 18 fow. Sometimes they wanted a twitch on the fall, others no extra movement. Color changes and weight/fall rate changes were necessary to keep the fish active. It was a very good day, overcast and post front by just an hour after the rain quit. The best my partner and I have done in a long time. Fished treetops today so plastics were the choice of the day, think I lost a dozen at least. We finished today with about 15, I didn't count before we parted and he kept the fish.
nice mess of fish :)
