    Default Saguaro Lake "Marourder"

I caught two largemouth with a jig like this one yesterday.I was going to make a pair of them, but got lazy. What a mistake that was. It's an 1/8 oz. football head with no collar.Custom poured for me by Grousefly.Has a 1/0 long shanked hook that I was going to use for hellgramites. When it is wet it looks like a little black snake in the water. So a leech or something that is swimming in that lake for sure.Did'nt get to use it long as I got it hung up.Bouncing it off the bottom was the best way that I found to use it.I painted it black, cleaned the eye out good, then I cured it for about 5 minutes and then poured a light coat of Pro Tek red in the cap of the jar, then just dipped the ends of the jig into that light layer of paint so it would'nt get too big for the eye.I had a couple of them with a white eye, chartruse eye,but they wanted the one that was red.???Tied with black marabou,no flash or anything.Just El Natural.I put a wrap of black #3 chenille back to the bend of the hook before tying on feathers.

Good to hear the jig worked out for you. You know to always tie two! LOL. The head color looks to have work well for you too.

Nice looking 'simple' style jig, i've been tying alot of all black and all drk. purple jigs and been doing well on them for bass. sometimes i think we get TOO fancy throwing in all the flash and color... natural things in the food chain want to blend in, not stand out and say eat me.

Also like the idea of using the chenille as an under body to give the jig more bulk when it is wet, gonna have to play around with that idea on some of my bass jigs. you should also try some rabbit strips for those bass, you won't be disapointed!!

For bass it's hard to beat Black, Grape, Purple in deeper water or at night for sure. We used these colors worm fishing for years here at night. Also a Black Spinner bait in the spring casting it right up next to the bank, hold on because he's coming. Also can be very good at night fishing a good flat that has Hydrilla on it and a few depth changes, like an old ditch or what ever.

    Nice looking jig!

Thanks.I'm in the process of an all brown one with the red eyes.I think that it will be better. As soon as my brown marabou gets here, that is.Being simple seems to work better for me in the way of jigs.

Nice looking jig but next time make more than one LOL, you're always supposed to make a few of each.
