Yeah you don't HAVE to cure them. Fish don't mind if they get a little banged up anyway. But a coat or two of a clear lacquer or nail polish will make them a little more durable, though like Skip said the yellow and green charts will turn "off" color after the nail polish dries, so vinyl is best then.

Take testors model paint and put a two coat epoxy over it if you can't cure the powder. Takes a little longer but you'll get some nice colors.
The vinyl is good stuff but it gives me wicked migrains so I had to stop using it.
Any model shop will get you the testors paint and I use the two part epoxy from Janns.

Vinyl paint is a good finish, but it stinks to high heaven, and the thinner is even worse. My wife will not allow me to use it in the house, no biggie, I agree. I use glow powder and some enamel and model paint. I use krylon or rustoleum spray primer.

None of the solvent based paints will be abe to be taken with on a plane. I don't know what the regulations are on shipping them. I actually kinda doubt that they are going to allow potential flamable and explosive paint on base while deployed. Check with your battery/batallion officers and find out before you buy something you can't have with you on base.

Don't know why you can't use a toaster but a heat gun might be a better option for you. You will love jigs that have been powder coated as soon as you get the hang of it. Very durable. Make a batch and then your free to concentrate on tying jigs.

I almost never cure my pp. But I am a dock shooter and dont keep jigs very long anyway. The jigs I use to fish tree tops etc I dont cure them either the pp will flake off if you bump them on rocks or something hard but mine stays on pretty good. dont have a problem with bakin em just dont take time to do it, also I clean my eyes out right before I tie em on, if you dont clean them eyes before you bake them you wont be able to blow it out with dynamite.
