How many of the lttle V's you cut of hackle do you normally use on say a 1/16oz jig?

I use the same on all of my tails. I use one tip and 2 of the V's. The V's is one reason I like buying the more costly neck hackle that is the 4"-6". I generally get a little longer and maybe a little wider hackle feather when I buy that size. The only problem comes on some colors it's very hard if not impossible to get all the colors I want and then I will take the 3"-5" hackle for the color I want. Also not every supplier has the dame quality of neck hackle and I find my favorite is Hareline and if you don't buy from them then you can get it from Bob Marriott's for sure. I also love their variegated neck hackle too. Cascade is better on number of colors, but I still like Hareline when it comes to neck hackle quality.

Also usually if I am struggling to fine enough of the color I am in to find the longer ones I will try a long on with a short one on top so they all stick out at different lengths.

Oh and I cut every feather as many V's as I can and what ever I don't use I keep storing them in a zip lock inside the zip lock I keep that color in. I keep everything from that color in the same bag just separated by more zip locks, LOL! I start with a Qt' storage bag and V's go into a sandwich bag and the remaining parts go in some other bag.

Also I did make a small video of the cutting the feathers just playing around, but will give a link to it too and maybe that will help.

    I think this is right...

Found them but there are so many to chose from. What should I look for besides 5-7 inches?
