Powder Paint Patterns ??

Any of you guys know how to make patterns on your lures with Powder Paint?I've been trying and can't get it right.On this one I painted it green chartruse,cured for about 5 mins.Let it cool off,then cut into it with a broadhead in lines then dipped it cold into regular yellow chartruse and wiped off with a paper towell to fill in the scratches.Would like some good lines in it.Let's figure this thing out.

the is definitely cool looking can you do that on a regular jig head.we have worked a lot with power paint i have not come anything close to what you done we do a lot of messing around with it as we kind of backed off for a while since we've been messing with plastics.

I imagine that you could.But with being so small would be a real pain,lol.I'm trying to figure out a way to make stripes and stuff that are thick and look good.

Dip your base color, cure it completely. Dip the jig in the next color cold. Then wipe off the sections you don't want to have color. Another way is to use high temp tape that is specially designed for powder paint. Roseys powder coating sells it. I imagine you could do just about anything with the hight temp tape as long as you can cut it to the shape you want and then cover the cured places to put the next color on.

I have used blue masking tape with limited success in keeping the paint off certain sections while hot dipping. It didn't do very well but it did work a little if I didn't melt or burn it off from getting it too hot.

Another way I just thinked up would be to use a string, cotton I think, dip it in the paint and lay it across the jig using it like a plumbers line. Lay it, stretch it and snap it then wipe of the excess before curing or do this multiple times for a blended type look. I imagine holding it tight close to the jig and flicking it would work also. Will have to experiment with it and see if I can make it work while you try it out and make a mess first. Who knows, maybe it will sork laying it on a hot jig if you find the right string that won't melt or burn and stick to the lure.

Something else to try would be to lay out the paint in a pattern on a board and then role the lure on the paint. I honestly don't know how well this will work but it may be just the trick. Just make sure to lay a thin layer of powder down. Maybe try it on a sponge with a light weight cardboard so it will bend and mold to the shape of the lure for complete coverage. Maybe aluminum foil on a sponge will work better.

I need to try some of these ideas for myself. I am just better at the thought process than doing it while I have the paint out. Good thing I write about my ideas here or I would forget them all.

Powder paint spray gun, wire mesh. Gett'em while there hot.Cool reheat.

use a small paint brush to sprinkle one color over another, two tone,splatter. I use it alot to put red on as a blood look. I also do it to spinner baits 3 layered colors.

Do you use a static setup or do you individually charge each jig to spray on powder paint?
