Default Some big hackle for AZslabber

I know they are flies but it shows what you can do with palmered hackle. Put this on a jig and go after those big boys. They are all tied on size 1 and 1/0 hooks for salmon and steelhead but should work well for crappie and bass.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

Here are a couple palmered marabou for comparison. They are almost 3 inches long. I haven't seen a hackle yet that will go that long. The action and huge profile on them is enough to scare away anything that isn't really hungry.

I like them. Nice job on them and you just took the flies and tied them on a jig head. I like looking at flies and then change them over to a jig. I spent a ton of time when I first started tying at FAOL and just reading and looking at their fly tying course. Then I would look through the tips section over and over every once in a while to see if anything there related to my tying. I think that is where I got the drill bit idea for eyes and lots of other stuff.
Then I would just look through all the patterns seeing what I could learn from them and really gave me a good base to work from.

I tried my hand a spinning deer hair and only did a few, one turned out pretty good and once not so hot and one terrible. I just saw some videos though and may get back into that on a jig head too.

Good Job on the flies and jigs.

That's some fine looking marabou. It's bigger than anything I've seen. Good job on the tying.
