Default I almost came unglued, LOL

You just can't imagine my reaction when I saw my $150 Rooster on the floor with my dog chomping at it. I freaked for sure and I guess my wife must have thought I was having a heart attack or something.

After the fact and chewing my dogs tail out, I found not too much damage, but a picture now is not possible since I cut it in half so I had a place to put it. That thing in one piece was so long. He did pull out a few small hackle and a few really long ones from the saddle, but not hurt. I can't figure out how he got it from right behind me without me knowing it. I had it sitting on top of one of my plastic cabinets and he just smoothed it out of here. Good thing I was getting up when I did to go have supper because there is no telling how bad it could have been. After all it's not like I can go get another one as there is none now.

I may still try to fit it together for a picture, but don't know.

So got them in and only could feel, why didn't I get the rest of what I was looking at. Well now here I am doing it again and about to order more JV hens and a couple of capes 2 that are Grade #1 & maybe 2 or 3 grade #2. I just want to get this all behind me and then just wait for the best of the best next year. Or look at Whiting for a few more I want really bad. I am building a fine selection.

Will get a few pictures of some, for sure this brown Hen he sent me, boy that thing is a beauty. Not a beautiful as my full Rooster was, Boohoo sniff sniff. That thing is a Medium Barred Ginger with some spots of what I would call Light Barred Ginger on the cape.

Told that dog he sure would make some nice Black & White Dubbing.

Gotta love dogs. Had a half dozen kiptails "disappear" one time. Not as costly as one of them high dollar capes but still a pain. Glad you got to it before any real damage was done.

I definitely got a kick out of the skip I think I'd be upset for quite a while if it was my dog. He might find himself on attending board. No more fancy Friskies for him.

Yes Bob, I was not in a good mood with him after that.

Smooth it was way more than a cape, it was full bird with cape saddle and all. That son of a gun was probably 3' long from top to bottom.

looked a lot like this bird with a lighter cape color and longer tail (a few of the saddle feathers were like 18"-19" long)...

My lab did that with some pheasant skins I got in the mail. My wife just tossed the box in the house and when I got home she had tore up 2 of em. The other 6 were ok and I had lots of baggies of feathers.

Hpe you enjoy tying with the Conranch hackles, I told ya once ya got you'd wished you got more LOL

Well even before they got here I was making another order list. I got 4 of his JV Roosters a good while back (probably at least a year and maybe 2 years) and like them and just have not went back until now to get some good stuff. Have barely used the JV's I got so far either. Gonna have a good supply of a number of colors. I still want more, but he doesn't have them. So next year.

Default I got my hackle from this fella

Skip, I happened on to this fella at a show in Cedar Rapids Iowa. His site is incomplete, but I'll bet he would take pictures if you had an interest. I bought a lot of dyed dry fly hackle from him. Bright colors and most in the $30- to $40 range. He had one unbelievable mounted bird but I didn't realize it was for sale. The dawg was just doing his job trying to save you from that mean old hen that was attacking you. Give the dawg a bone and say "Nice dawg. "

I learned to keep my valuable stuff up high from my dawgs. LOL. Then I realized the Kip tails were just "Things" that could be replaced. Memories like the expression on my face are priceless.

Yeah, I was mad at my dawg too but only for a few hours.
