About Hilts Molds ... I have several and they are all great ... Now on the older Aments (they are no longer made Paul Passed away I think in the middle 70's) He was a master mold maker ... now the regular cast molds were good during their time .. they were the cast Aluminum ... he made some percesion custom molds for me and am still using them today ... they were made of block aluminum and the steel model was pressed into the blocks .. hinges added and sprue cut ... He all so made many cast aluminum molds for pouring plastic (I have custom ones) ... I have many of them both 1 and 2 pc molds.
He made molds for a lot of Manufactuerers back in those days. Palmer all so makes jig molds ... And there are several guys that make some excellent molds using CNC.

    My 2 cents worth

Probably have 40 – 50 Paul Ament custom molds and 15 – 20 of the cast. The man was a genius especially given the tools he had to work with.

Lil Mac makes a good mold – have 24 of their jig molds – mostly medium weight jigs.

Hilt’s use to make some alright molds – pain to pour – over priced. They do have some cool older jig molds.

Palmer has real good molds also but most the time you see the cast mold stuff - junk.

Herter’s tried with the F series and G series – mostly big stuff.

So far have 3 (actually 5 – two molds are double sided) custom CAT molds and 6 modified Do-it molds done by CAT. And he is presently working on 4 more molds for me. Highly recommend his work.
