Chenille size?

when it come to ordering materials online im not to sure when it come to ordering chenille how or what do they use to size chenille im confussed here can some one give me a run down on the sizeing chart and how to pick the right size i need when im ordering online? thanks

1 is small or thin, bigger #'s mean thicker chenille.

chenille #2 or medium is what you want...thread myself i use a 210 denier

Depends on the size of jig in my opinion as well as fall rate. Medium is a good size for nearly everything 1/32 oz. and bigger. If you double wrap medium you will get a bit slower fall which is good in certain situations. If purchasing tinsel chenille, medium is good for up to 1/16oz. or can be double wrapped as well. Pbug is right on. You can purchase smaller for smaller sizes, but you can make medium work well in most crappie sizes. I like the 210 denier thread as well. Anything smaller and I snap it while wrapping.

the 210 allows a tighter tie in my opinion...i just like the medium chenille i double wrap alot, also i take a wrap wire sometimes when i double wrap them...kinda helps the sink rate

Like everyone else is saying, medium or #2, is kind of the happy medium. I have some that are larger, and some that are called fine, they both work for different looks, and fishing capabilities. But the majority of mine is the medium size.

Size #2 is most versatile and that would be because it's small enough you can use it on a really small jig head and at the same time if you double wrap it then it's good all the way to at least 1/4 Oz. head. # is nice if you don't plan anything smaller than 1/32, but even on that is a pretty fat body.

Thread is kind of a personal preference and I am a bit heavy handed so I use 210 flat waxed Danville if possible to get in the color I want. If not I go to 140 Denier Ultra thread and a little 6/0 which I use more on flies. I do have some down to 14/0, but am scared to try it, LOL!
