Rainy Day Jigs

Just thought I'd put the rainy day to good use by trying my hand at tying a few new jigs. I'm really open for any comments, good or bad. I need help as this is new to me. I've just been doing this for about 25 jigs worth. I've been flying by the seat of my pants and if I tied something that was bad I'd just tear it apart and start over again.

the 4th jig down is really nice.keep tying u will get it. the top jigs feathers are a little to long for me.the second and third need to be a little longer.thats just my 2cents

Since your tying for your self and time is not a consideration there is some things you can do. May take a bit of time and being careful, but take a bodkin or something like that and run it under the trapped fibers on the jig like the pink one and you can make it a bit fuller with out more warps. Also on that one do something different with out the tail ends. Want a feather end of hair with natural ends.

On the top one you need to pull off the feather fibers off the stem and tie it in like that so you get better action.

I feel pretty sure your jigs will catch fish, but there is room for improvement.

You also may want to try some flashabou in place of the Krystal Flash. I have both and both have their place.

Keep practicing and working on things and maybe take time to look at some fly fishing sites that have tying boards or archives with patterns so you can see the steps as done by the best. Also read the sticky's at the top of this board. Last but not least ask questions here.

Crappie pop Keep tying. I never tear up any thing I tie it goes in my misfit box. At some time in the future I go thur it and maybe there is one Idea that I can improve on. You are getting there the number 2 and 4 jig I like. IMHO just make your tails a little longer and you will have a cracker jack of a jig. Like those two color combos. Remember you have to crawl before you can walk and walk before you run. Keep tying son Keep Tying.
