LOL too funny Perchjerker. I will tell you don't cut your marabou after it's tied, Don't tie in the stem unless it is so flimsy it makes no difference.
Be careful with all things that spill. Make sure you don't add thing to your feathers or hair that could have bugs as they will eat it all.
Read all the sticky post at the top too.
You may want to not go quite as far down the shank as you are and finish at the head.

I use mostly non collared jig heads, however as others have noted, there is
a time for collars, such as buck tail and others. I've learned a lot since signing on with CDC! And you will too! Most of the tiers will answer your questions, no matter how dumb you may think they are. (the questions, no the tiers:D). After a while jump into the jig swaps....they will help seeing what others are using for material and also patterns from across the country that may work in your lake. Lotsa fun!! Oh, and also you might as well raise the limit on your credit cards cause you will be ordering "must have" material from all over the U.S.A.![]()

Sittin here wishin I was out fishin!!!
I prefer the non collared jigs, but sometimes I do use them. I have noticed on most with collars, the collar doesnt go down the shank as far as I want the chenille body to go. So, I build up thread to match the collar thickness, to the point I want my body to stop. Then I put a little cement on the thread to make sure the buildup doesnt move. Let, it dry, and you are ready to add marabou. This gives you an even body size, instead of having a tiny but on your body.
Welcome to this happy bunch of tiers. The best thing that you will get is encouragemnet. You will get better and in a few weeks you will be spending as much as the rest of us on Hooks, Material, Molds, and Lead. So please be forwarned this will keep you out of Bars and Beer joints. Away fron casinos and sometimes loss of sleep when you look at the clock and see that it is three hours pass bedtime and your still tying. Oh and by the way not bad for a first timer.
